The NDIS can be a really daunting space... it is a support scheme of the Australian Government that funds costs associated with disability, but............. what does that mean for you and why is it so exhaustingly complex and often difficult to mould to you and your needs? 

Well, the difficult thing is it's designed to suit everyone and we are all so diverse, which is then backed by an even more complex range of diverse needs, so it's tricky for them to capture it all perfectly and therefore it becomes so very challenging to so many. 

The NDIS is the Government's way of assessing and providing funding to individuals with a disability. The funding allocation is based on streaming factors as well as evidence based reasonable and necessary support needs.

It can sometimes be difficult to find someone with the experience and understanding to truly assess a person and ensure they're able to access the realistic amount of supports and services available to them. Plan Reviews are an option if your plan doesn't fit with your needs.

The planning is getting better all the time and it's a great opportunity to reflect on whats worked in the past and what hasn't and what you need in the coming year. Remember to talk to other people around you who might be able to help, the more information you can give to the planners the better your plan outcome is likely to be.

Support Coordination is a component allocated within some NDIS plans, the level of this varies between individuals.
