The need for Support Coordination, is based on your need in the realms of what is reasonable and necessary to implement and deliver your NDIS Plan and is included in the Capacity Building budget. If you're not sure if you are eligible then talk to your Local Area Coordinator or NDIS Planning Team.
This is generally a fixed amount for strengthening participant’s abilities to coordinate and implement supports in their plans and to participate more fully in the community. Support Coordination may always be needed to make a plan work or may only be needed for a short period of time to help get the plan on track supporting you to confidently mange things for yourself.
The NDIA sets the price limits for supports to ensure they provide value for money for participants. Support Coordination fees are published in the Support Guides and Pricing Catalogues. AP Support Coordination will define what is included, agree the costs and so there are no supprises, we'll both sign a Service Agreement.
How much support coordination you have available to you will be determined by what's in your NDIS plan budget. If you think it's something that is going to be helpful for you, or the person you are advocating for to have in your plan, then ask for it to be included when you are meeting with your Local Area Coordinator or Planner. You may need it included just for the first year to get you going, or to get your plan back on track; you will need to explain why, and justify why, Support Coordination is "reasonable and necessary" (you'll probably hear these words a lot) for you to have it included in your plan.
If you're not sure you can always contact me for a chat, I will be as helpful as I can.
